BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (December 20, 2022) – Southeastern Conference Commissioner Greg Sankey announced on Tuesday the addition of Marcus Bishop as Assistant Director of Competition and Danielle DiBenedetto as Assistant Director of Digital and Social Media to the SEC staff.
Bishop joins the SEC from the Sun Belt Conference where he served as Director of Championships, with a primary focus on tennis, cross country and track and field championships. He was previously Director of Sports Administration and Engagement for the America East Conference after serving internships with the NCAA and Arizona State.
Bishop earned his undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Alabama and also earned a master’s degree in higher education administration from Alabama before earning a master of sports law and business from Arizona State. In his role with the SEC, Bishop will serve as sport administrator for the sports of soccer and women’s tennis, which includes management of championships events in those sports. He will also assist with management of other neutral site SEC championships throughout the year.
DiBenedetto joins the SEC from the Salem Red Sox, a minor league affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, where she served as promotions and social media manager. She was also a marketing assistant with Wizard Digital, a digital marketing agency in Fort Lauderdale, after serving internships with the Florida Everblades, then an ECHL affiliate of the Nashville Predators, and the Fort Myers minor league affiliate of the Minnesota Twins.
DiBenedetto is a cum laude graduate in communication from Florida Gulf Coast University where she was an athletics marketing assistant as an undergraduate. In her role with the SEC, DiBenedetto will assist in the execution of the SEC’s social media strategy, contributing in content creation and strategic messaging efforts on official SEC communications platforms.
